road trippin'

on the last day of our vacation we explored sewanee. i have never been so in love with a place before, all humming with intelligence and creativity, in contrast to my little town; which has been seized by a small set of church of christ~y suburbanites. (aherm. did i say that?) sewanee felt as if it was tailor made to suit my locally unfavored appetites.

we stopped in a little coffee house called the blue chair. this freaking perfect little place, dappled with an abundance of funky items and interesting people pulled off the dazing feat of making us- a couple and their two kids- feel welcomed. i have become accustomed to trendy places greeting us with a thinly veiled disdain usually reserved for a blistering rash. "you have procreated and therefore you must be trite" seems to be the basic gist.

after a meal soaked in good ju-ju; we grazed the rest of the town with me escalating at every bit of evidence* i would discover and then present to gorilla boy, proving that we were destined, no obliged, to live within it's pretty walls. yeah, the town is actually book ended with cobbled walls. dang. i am so hooked.

*i mean, come on. the theological bookstore also carries harry potter and jamie oliver cookbooks!!
